Since we got in a day earlier than expected, we took it easy today and did some sightseeing. We decided on the "Ford Rouge Tour" in nearby Dearborn and the "Wiard's Orchards" in nearby Ypsilanti. I didn't know if I'd enjoy the Ford tour as I'm not that into cars and trucks, but I was actually very impressed and surprised. I was just amazed at the size of this place and the land they own, I'm pretty sure they could have their own town! We weren't really interested in the Henry Ford Museum (although it was beautiful inside), but we did do the "Ford Rouge Factory Tour" where they specially only make the F150's. The tour had 4 stages I believe, beginning with a 360 degree theatre experience of the history of Ford and such. Our favorite part was the actual assembly factory itself. We were not allowed to take pictures inside there, but it was quite a learning experience. We got to see from above, the assembly of the F150's from very beginning to end! After the tour, we decided to head to Ypsilanti to the Wiard's apple orchard. It is nestled in a beautiful part of the 'countryside' of the town. We were actually a week early in getting to be a part of their fall festival and picking our own apples, but we enjoyed seeing the place and taking some awesome donuts and the best cider we've had back to our hotel room to enjoy! Since the apple orchard tour didn't take as long as we had expected, we went back into town and drove around Eastern Michigan University and went downtown and ate some grub! Neat little town and good day overall!
