While we are VERY grateful that my mom, who is a Frontier flight attendant, is able to get us very reasonable plane tickets, the downside to cheap tickets is that you fly on standby. We’ve done this before when we traveled to Mexico when Bray was 9 mo. old and I was 6 mo. preggo with B, so you would of thought we learned our lesson after missing a day in Mexico and having to buy plane tickets to get home, granted it was Mexico and not Detroit, but you just can’t pass up cheap airfare! We figured not many people would probably be traveling to Detroit of all places this time of year and there are 3 flights a day to and from…but we were wrong again! We ended up making a last min. decision to head out on our trip a day early because the loads were looking like we’d likely miss another day of travel if we waited. Coming home was a similar scenario. We were both ready to be home and see the kids. It wasn’t looking good for both of us to both get on the very early morning flight we had planned on, so we ended up buying one one-way ticket home on Southwest which Chad flew on and then I was able to get on Frontier and thankfully we were both able to make it home within 30 min. of each other! The good thing about coming back home is that we gain time back. Leaving at 6am EST, back home at 7am our time, SO nice! Very brutal though going the other way. Going out we arrived in Detriot at midnight. By the time we got our rental car and to the hotel it was past 2am. It was so good to be home and see the kids, they were so very excited to see us and their surprises we promised them we’d bring back! However, being up at 2 am our time to catch a flight back home and then trying to make it until the kids went to bed that night at 9 or so, was super challenging, we were both falling asleep at the table! Today’s pics are of our last day in Ann Arbor. After we did the Big House tour, we were able to tour the last of campus that we hadn’t seen yet. Beautiful neighborhoods of fraternity and sorority houses. A painted rock in the middle of the neighborhood that gets painted over and over by rival and MI students during and after games, very interesting. We had not been to one of the “must see’s” in Ann Arbor yet, so we went for a late lunch to Zingerman’s, a world famous deli. The line is always out the door and around the building anytime you go, so being the middle of the day, we had to check it out for ourselves. Yep, totally true! Very neat, old building and neighborhood it is in, all surrounded with brick roads, I love those! We didn’t wait in line long at all, it was just hard choosing something, so many choices! If we had had room in our suitcases, I would of brought back some yummy things from there, I’ll remember that next time! We both enjoyed a yummy lunch outside and then headed back towards our hotel to get up super, super early for our flight home!
