I thought Chad was a little crazy when he said we needed to be at the stadium hours ahead of time. However, once we arrived in Ann Arbor, I was totally taken away by the massive tailgating that had been going on for what looked like hours already. We were aware that we would be paying a hefty price for parking. When you have the largest stadium in the U.S., they must have planned where to park everyone right? Well, not so much! People sure do get creative and I can imagine that the college kids that live close to the stadium love making a little extra cash as they let people park in their driveways and such. The creative part of it that I found a little odd, is that there is a golf course across the street from the stadium and people are allowed to park on the golf course and tailgate as well. We, being one of them. For $40 you’d think you’d get somewhat close to the stadium, we were probably a good mile, mile and a half from it, yikes! It was fun to see all the tailgating though, I have been to many Broncos games and maybe a half a dozen college games here and I have to say, tailgating is like nothing I’ve ever seen before, it really puts the others to shame. I thought maybe it would be the other way around, but they know how to party in MI! One of the first things Chad had decided when we started making plans to go on this trip, was that we were going to get the best seats we could possibly get if we were going to travel this far. Chad did a really good job of that too! Row 1 in fact. However, when we got to the stadium, we didn’t realize that there was a Row A & B before Row 1, so we were actually in Row 3, who does that? It was not a big deal to me at all, Chad was a little bummed, but it still felt like we were in the front row. He made buddy’s with a guy that had a Row A ticket that was from Ann Arbor, so we got the inside scoop on some stuff we didn’t know. Before the game, we were able to see the teams arrive, the weather was not looking like it was going to hold up and started sprinkling, but by the time the game started it turned into a beautiful day for a game! We played UMass, the game should have been an easy win, and we did win, we just have a young team and NO defense, its frustrating and could be a long season! After the game, we were able to get many autographs from the players on a football Chad had bought earlier that day, he was like a kid in a candy store!! It’ll be neat to display it in the basement when its finished! It was a really neat experience to be able to be a part of a huge college game, the attendance today was hovering at 110,187 I believe, so crazy! I know this won’t be the last time we are here! Needless to say, after all the postgame stuff, we headed back to our hotel, we were so exhausted!
