Ok, so I really have to admit, I was a HUGE fan of Jon & Kate + 8 way back when it started and it was 'normal'. Every Monday night I looked forward to watching the new show no matter what time it was, I HAD to get it watched before the next day, can you say obsessed? :) But now, this show has taken a dramatic turn for the worst and I refuse to watch it now. This also leads me to make this my blog post for today because they have been in the news TOO much lately when anything dramatic comes up and I just have to rant about it and give you my opinion. As a parent now of only 2 kids, it was really fun to watch the show in the beginning to see how huge families like that live day to day and to check out how they go about different strategies like discipline, new stages like potty training and so much more. Then in the last year it took a turn for the worst and they are now in the middle of a nasty divorce, affairs and all the drama that comes along with everything. When the new season premiered this year, it became a whole new sad show centering around the divorce in which I quickly lost interest pretty fast. Now each time there is something that comes up, like today when news broke that he drained all but $1,000 of their joint account, it quickly became juicy gossip for the major tv networks, like the Today Show that I try to watch every morning. Now that I have a little one to watch pretty early in the mornings now, I try to sit and watch it with her until my 2 are up for the day. Today they happened to have Kate on to talk about the latest happening. Although I feel sad for her in a way, its gone WAY too far. Like one of my friends said, do you see David Lettermen, whom also is very much in the news lately, parading around tv networks to talk about his latest drama? And my friend is also so true in saying its all about getting ratings. I'm sorry, but they're adults, GROW up, talk to one another for the sake of the children and work things out between the both of you, quit coming on tv to get attention and ratings every time something happens in their lives and move on. STOP the tv show (which it currently is) and focus on letting your kids try to live a normal life like most everybody else. Its sad to say, but Kate has always been to me all about the money more than her kids. She should be very apprecative of the amazing opportunity they have had to film their life for some time. The kids are very well set for their future according to her. Most normal kids will have to grow up and pay for much of their college education (which by that time will be outrageous I'm afraid) and try to find good jobs, I'm doubting these kids will have no problems with that. But most importantly its so very sad to see these kids go through such a horrible thing called divorce. I can only hope that they will get through this somewhat peacefully and be able to live happily ever after.
