So, I finally finished my 2nd book in like a year's time! This author (Stefanie Wilder-Taylor) has another book called "Sippy cups are not for Chardonnay, which I previously read and related to a few years ago but her new book, "Naptime is the new happy hour", which talks about ways toddlers turn your life upside down, is so hilarious and I can say I've gone through practically everything she states in the book! She definetly tells it like it is and its just crazy how true and similiar 'toddlerhood' can be for every parent that goes through it. I totally agree with the title completely. Motherhood is a demanding, rewarding and challenging 24/7/365 job all in 1. I thought I had a rough with my jobs I held previously, boy, was I totally wrong!! Remembering some of those days I'd spend 14 hours working because someone was sick or didn't show up, well that would seem like a piece of cake to me these days! Somedays, I would give anything to trade Chad jobs for a day, but most of all I wouldn't trade it for anything! So, being 'on the job' 24/7, when naptime comes around everyday, it definetly is 'happy hour' for me (not the happy hour you are thinking though:)), especially when they both nap at the same time, which I've worked hard to do, but there are days that doesn't happen. That 1-2 hour 'to myself' time is so vital as a mom to rejuvenate yourself and to make it through the next 1/2 of your day. Most of the time it is not what you wish it could be (sit back, relax, watch tv, snack on a few bonbons), its usually catching up on dishes, laundry, cleaning, emails, blogging (as I'm doing right now). I do whatever I need to do that I can't get done with 2 kids pulling at my side! To you it may not be your idea of happy hour, but to me that's what it takes to keep me on track! You may ask when the heck I have time to read with 2 kids and a house to keep up? Well, I've been trying really hard to make it my goal to take more time for myself no matter what hour. So in doing that, after everyone is in bed at night, I will escape to the bath and read whatever book I am currently reading or magazine too! The only thing that keeps it from being perfect is having a glass of wine-I need to work on that, maybe that would help me sleep better too, definetly have to give that a try! So, I totally recommend this book to anyone who has toddlers or anyone who will eventually be there someday, its a good laugh!
