So its been a week since the much anticipated college football starts! My husband's favorite time of the year! His passion for college football is something I've never seen in someone before and its cool to watch and marry into it, I'm learning something new every week! Last week we opened up with UConn and won. This week we faced Notre Dame, which I'm learning, has a ton of history behind it. I found a book at the library for him called "Natural Enemies". Its the story of Notre Dame and Michigan's rivalry. Here's a little bit from the first few paragraphs from the book I found interesting.
"No other major college football rivalry has been aflame as long, or has produced flames as long, as Notre Dame-Michigan. When Michigan and Notre Dame first played in 1887, Army had yet to play Navy, and the following schools hadn't even taken up the sport: Oklahoma, Nebraska, Florida State, Miami, Alabama, Auburn, Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia, Georgia Tech...nor even Ohio State (Michigan's supposed archrival) and USC (Notre Dame's). In Notre Dame-Michigan, each is the other's oldest rival. In fact Michigan was Notre Dame's very first football opponent. The teams have been at each other's throats ever since-117 years and counting."
Of course I knew about Ohio State-Michigan, but didn't realize Notre Dame had a very rich tradition with the Wolverines. Today we played them in South Bend and won 28-24! It was a HUGE game for our amazing quarterback, Denard Robinson, whom I will introduce you to when our michigan trip posts are posted!
Every year, I try to capture a picture of Bray and Chad with their jerseys on, it will become a tradition for us in this house from here on out! There is also a picture of both kiddos and Chad cheering them on!
