We are going through yet another tough phase, this time with Braylon. About 3-4am every morning, he gets up, turns on his light in his room and cries, and cries, and cries.....He would love to bust out of his room, but his 'smart' parents have turned the lock around so he can't get out of his room, which he knows by now. So he totally is our kid because he's STUBBORN as heck and does not give up. Chad is more strict and believes that he can cry it out and eventually he'll go back to bed (which has approached 1 hr. at times), but not me. I can maybe handle 20 min. at the most and I can't listen to it anymore. My anxiety is through the roof laying there listening to him, plus I'm not sleeping, so why not just go take care of the situation so we can all sleep again, right? Although the other tough dilemma is that if you go and tend to his needs everytime after only a short period of crying they tend to catch on and play the game and know that THEY are winning it and I don't think that's the right way to handle it all the time, because they will win every time and it becomes a horrible habit. Know that its not a phase that will last forever, but it seems like it to most parents, especially in the middle of the night :( What I've been doing is having to make myself a bed on the floor and find a pillow and lay there so uncomfortably next to his bed until he falls asleep, most of the time it ends up being an hour, so lots of precious sleep lost. :( Once he's asleep I can escape out of his room and back to my room to try to sleep a few more hours. Luckily, this lasted about 2 weeks now, but he is starting to get much better and not waking up so darn early, so I hope we are on the final stretch of this rough phase. This daily pic is of my '2nd bed' in Bray's room. Hopefully I get to say so long to it for a long while!
