04.25.09- My 30th birthday!!

I know I can't believe I'm here, its hard to believe I've entered the dirty 30's as I like to call them! No really, its going to be good, don't they say that 50's is the new 40, 40 is the new 30, so 30 is the new 20, ahhhh to be 20 again!! I didn't get to sleep in this morning as I'd hoped, as it was a dreary cloudy day, perfect sleeping weather. Bray woke up fairly early and very grumpy, I'm glad it was the weekend and Chad was home! On the other hand, Bryn woke up very happy and even told me "Happy Birthday" many times, it was SO darn cute! We put our hats on as we all had bed head and headed to Starbucks to have coffee. Next, I wanted to go to Kohl's and get some new shirts with my birthday money. After that we headed back home, so here's the rest of the story on my day:

Anyways, so I had this feeling most of the week that he was up to something but I really couldn't figure out what it was. He kept telling me we were going for lunch and a movie. That was my first clue- he always lets me pick where I want to go eat and what to do on my birthday, so the fact that he was choosing for me, made me think somethings up! So we went out to coffee Saturday morn., then I wanted to go to Kohls to get some new shirts and then we came home and we both got ready, because I needed to be ready by 11:30, so I was. He had arranged for Shawn and Alissa to come over and watch the kids while we were gone. We left right before noon and started going out of Parker and the tech center, which is unusual for us, I am so sheltered these days. Once we went past downtown, I kept joking with Chad that we are going beyond our boundaries, got past 144th and I'm like what the heck? Finally we exited off on Hwy. 7 and he had had a recommendation to eat at the La Fogata (Mexican), so we did that, SO good! The best salsa I've ever had! After lunch, he said we were taking the back roads to go down to Colorado Mills, which I thought was odd because that was way out of the way and I kept telling him Flatirons would be closer, ok he said. I thought to myself, why the heck would he just not take the interstate back to the mall? But I didn't say anything, I just went with the flow! We got to Longmont and his directions were a little screwy, got a little lost, but eventually made it out of Longmont and headed west. Ok, for sure we are definetly not going to the movies, I KNEW IT, but he wouldn't admit it, funny! We soon saw signs for Estes Park, and I got so excited and said, we aren't going to the movies, we're going to Estes Park!!! He finally admitted that we were but still had no clue if we what we were doing. I began to wonder, are we staying here or are we just driving through? After he finally told me we were staying overnight, I was a little worried that I didn't have anything to stay overnight and what about the kids? Well, my sneaky onery husband had it all taken care of, he had packed me an overnight bag complete with all my cosmetics and the kids were taken care of, wow, this really is for real!!! We arrived at our little 'inn' about 2:30, it was nestled up the hill about 3 miles from Estes, very close to the north entrance to Rocky Mtn. Nat. Park! We got checked in and that was only the beginning! By now, I was just grinning ear to ear, I was definetly on cloud 9 by now! We found our place and he opened the door and it was so neat! We had a kitchen, fireplace, couches, jacuzzi in our suite and our bed, it was amazing! When I looked around my eyes stopped on the kitchen table, as there were a dozen roses, a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine, oh my gosh, I couldn't believe my eyes! We got all settled in and then told me I had 1 more surprise coming, and I just couldn't believe it and wondered how it could get any better? At 4 pm there was a knock at our door and in walks this lady with a huge bag, I immediately thought, is that a massage therapist? Sure enough, she was here to give each of us an hour massage, it was incredible to say the least, I had been thinking early in the week that I wanted to use my bday money to get one, so he knew exactly what I needed! I was so thankful to her and it was neat because she had lived there for 35 years and so we asked her what she would recommend for dinner, so she told us of this place and said we should make reservations now and so Chad did just that! After massages, we had reservations to eat at this fabulous Italian restuarant at 7:30, we got there right on time and had some amazing Italian food, it was a great recommendation and I'm glad she was there to tell us that. We had picked up a few movies before dinner at our inn's office and went back and watched a movie, enjoyed our jacuzzi and had an amazing evening, can I say that word one more time! :)We headed back around 11 today, I just couldn't believe that he had planned all this and he hadn't told but 1 or 2 people because he didn't want anyone to slip up! He did an awesome job and I was so surprised and it was all so perfect! It was much needed, I couldn't remember the last time we got to go away by ourselves for a night and enjoy it, it was long before kids were here, so we were long overdue! I keep telling my hubby he wins "Husband of the Year!" and that I will never forget my birthday!
