I can actually say somewhat that I know what its like to be in Oprah's shoes!

I've always admired and been inspired by Oprah, she is an icon to so many, including myself and she too has battled with thyroid problems. Last week, she came out and admitted that she had gained 40 pounds back in no time and that she was starting her "Best Life" series with her trainer, Bob Greene at the beginning of the year to get herself back on track. She also stated that she has battled with thyroid problems for a long time, just like I have! Its really neat (in a way) to see someone that you look up go through the same diagnose as you because as so many people watch Oprah regularly, I'm hoping she'll be able to educate her viewer's about this condition and how big of a problem it really is. According to her website, it states that 1/2 of the 27 million Americans with thyroid disease remain undiagonosed, that's such a huge number and I can only hope that she can spread the awareness of this and help people get their lives back on track, because being undiagonsed is such a frustrating and trying time, trust me, I've been there. I am so glad though in a way that I don't live in Oprah's shoes on a daily basis; being extremely popular, constantly busy and always being the talk of the media, I'm pretty sure I would be humiliated if I had to face the public on a daily basis and deal with a weight issue in this 'size 0' society, its so dishearting. I have all the respect for her to come out and deal with this with such an honest way, you go girl! I am VERY excited to hopefully learn from her new series at the first of the year, as you probably read from my last post, that my dr. appt. last week was very discouraging and I have to get myself back on track in '09. Oprah's website is taking stories on 'falling off the weight loss wagon' and I've been pondering it for the last week and finally after 2 hours of writing my story, its in the final stage of being emailed and submitted to her show. I feel like I've been the perfect example of that in the past 10 years and it would be amazing and out of this world to be picked, but not getting my hopes up, as I know there are probably thousands of people in the same wagon! stay tuned!
