Today I am very thankful for the gift of happiness that pets bring into your family. I never imagined I'd say such a thing. Yes, I always had pets growing up, outside pets only, never indoors. Once we got married though, that all changed and I wasn't so sure what to think of that, but respected my husbands wishes and decided to give it a chance. My husband had always wanted an English bulldog ever since I knew him and my brother-in-law had wanted an English mastiff for a long while too. While we were all living under the same roof when we first were married, Shawn began the journey first by getting Nala in 2001. Shortly after in the spring of '02, Chad and I followed and brought home Rozzum. They were so much fun and still are and gave us lots and lots of practice before we decided to have kids. They were really our 'first kids'! Now that we have our kids, I really am glad that my kids can experience the love and somewhat responsiblities that come with pets. I have also heard from many people about how important it is to have a pet around kids as it helps with allergies, meaning that kids build a good immune system to them and are less likely to be allergic to them and many other things I believe.
This past year, Shawn and Alissa have experienced many complications with Nala and we know that our time with her is getting more and more limited. It has been heartbreaking to go through this with them and it being Shawn's first love and baby makes it difficult. We try to make the best out of each moment with her now and we are very thankful for the gift of health with Rozz and all the great memories we have had with them so far!
